Communications during COVID-19: The benefits of employee check-ins

May 5, 2020

Even with all the opportunities for virtual face-to-face meetings, it is easy to miss visual cues in body language and facial expressions that could be telling you an employee is not coping well. Although some people may have thought working from home was their dream job, the reality is it can feel isolating and can prove more challenging than working from an office.

📢Award Rate Changes - July 2022 National Minim 📢Award Rate Changes - July 2022

National Minimum Wage has increased by $40 per week (5.2%) this year. This has elevated the national minimum wage to $812.60 per week, or $21.38 per hour for Permanent staff and $26.73 for Casuals.

Award minimum wages have increased by 4.6%, which is subject to a minimum increase for award classifications of $40 per week and based on a 38-hour week for a full-time employee. This means minimum award wages above $869.60 per week, will get a 4.6% increase, and below $869.60 per week, will get a $40 increase.

Increases apply from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2022. This means if you have a weekly pay period that starts on Mondays, the new rates will apply from Monday 4 July 2022. The exception to this is Aviation, Hospitality and tourism industries which will increase on 01 October 2022.

📢 Super Increase - 01 July 2022.

In addition to an increase in minimum wages, there are changes to superannuation (super) which take effect from 1 July and includes the:

- increase in the super guarantee rate from 10% to 10.5%
- removal of the $450 super guarantee threshold

The change is effective from the first pay in July., so if you pay weekly that means you pay 10.5% super on the entire week commencing 27 June.

📩If you have any questions, or would like support processing this change within your business, feel free to DM us or call on 1300 1 OUR HR.
