Even with all the opportunities for virtual face-to-face meetings, it is easy to miss visual cues in body language and facial expressions that could be telling you an employee is not coping well. Although some people may have thought working from home was their dream job, the reality is it can feel isolating and can prove more challenging than working from an office.

This week is an International day to recognise and raise awareness, start conversations, and support men’s health—physical, mental, and emotional.

What are some ways you can promote Men’s Health Week in the workplace? 

Health Fairs – Organise for a vendor or two that provide wellness services specifically for men to come onsite and talk about their services. 
Wear Blue Day – Encourage staff to wear blue to create awareness and spread knowledge on men's health issues.
Onsite Health Screenings – Arrange for an on-site health screening with local healthcare providers such as blood pressure and cholesterol checks. 

Check in on yourself. Check in on your mates. Because strength is being able to ask for help. 💪

Encouraging employees to take regular leave is key to maintaining both their well-being and overall workplace health. It not only helps prevent burnout but also fosters a culture where employees feel supported in achieving a sustainable work-life balance. 

May is a great time of year for a quarterly check in with employees about their leave balances, find out their plans for their leave balance and reminding them of the importance of taking breaks. Individual often work better when they are well rested, and their mental health taken care of. Taking their annual leave can help reduce stress, improve mood, and increase happiness which for you leads to better staff morale, reduced turnover and sickness absence and more productive staff.

By making well-being a priority, you're setting up a more productive and engaged workforce for the long term.
