Our client’s busy Ophthalmology clinic prides itself on brand-new, modern, purpose-built well-equipped fully computerised practice with a relaxed, friendly and patient-centric approach. Providing comprehensive eye care services for the Sunshine Coast and surrounds, boasting a state-of-the-art facility with full diagnostic capability to manage all eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, dry eyes, diabetic eye disease, retinal disease and macular degeneration as well as eyelid surgery including ptosis repair, ectropion and eyelid cancers. 

About the Role

Currently seeking an Optometrist or Orthoptist to join the team on a full-time basis.

Ideally, we are looking for an Optometrist or Orthoptist who loves what they do and places patient care as their top priority. Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the team to deliver exceptional patient care
  • General patient assessment including:
    • History taking
    • IOP measurements (GAT, iCare, Tonopen)
    • Visual Acuity assessment
    • Refraction
  • Orthoptic assessments including:
    • Squint assessment
    • Subjective refraction
    • Intraocular pressure check (ability to use Goldmann applanation tonometer highly desirable)
  • Visual Field Testing (Humphrey’s)
  • Biometry (IOL  Master)
  • OCT, Fundal Photography, Fluorescein Angiography
  • Assist in minor procedures and lasers as required
  • Assist with Dry Eye Clinic including IPL treatment
  • Keeping up to date with new techniques and developments
  • Effectively communicate with patients regarding diagnoses,  required treatments and counselling
  • Post-op follow-up care with patients as directed by Management

What You Will Need

  • Registration with the Australian Orthoptic Board OR Optometry Board of Australia
  • Bachelor of Health/ Vision Science Degree or relevant Orthoptics/ Optometrist qualification
  • Experience in Ophthalmology or Optometry
  • A strong desire to learn and attention to detail
  • Flexibility with shifts and working hours
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Previous refractive surgery experience is an advantage
  • Strong computer skills
