Ophthalmic Technician (Casual)
Location Buderim

Located in Buderim Our Client is seeking a casual Ophthalmic Technician who will bring their exceptional skills, positive attitude and friendly know-how to this brand new specialist clinic.

This is a casual role to commence with but we are looking to provide more permanent hours over time as we grow.  We will work with the applicant to look to accommodate hours that also work for them.

Your key duties will be to support the Ophthalmologist during procedures in the clinic, including prepping the patient, as well as providing standard ophthalmic patient work-ups, performing preliminary exams and tests, including; medical history, visual field testing and OCT scanning.

You will also be required to:

  • Clean and maintain ophthalmic equipment
  • Assist in post-operative care of patients
  • Maintain medical stocks

Other highly desirable or advantageous skills include:

  • Ability to carry out subjective refraction
  • Paediatric vision tests – whilst you may not have had prior experience, you will be keen to learn more

Equipment used in the clinic includes:

  • Genie/Gentu
  • Ziess diagnostics – IOL Master 700, OCT Cirrus 6000, Clarus Widefield Camera
  • Humphrey Field Analyser 3 HFA3

Your practical experience, skills and qualities will include:

  • High level interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective relationships with patients
  • High level written and verbal communication skills
  • Have a clear understanding of patient confidentiality and able to respond effectively 
  • Excellent presentation
  • Strong team player ethic & a desire to be a real contributor in this new team
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to prioritise in a patient focussed multi-task environment
  • Commitment to excellence in patient care
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite with ability to acquire knowledge of other computer software

Certifications

  • Qualifications are preferred, but so is appropriate experience
  • Up-to-date Covid vaccination
