Right to Disconnect legislation is now in full effect, giving employees the legal right to disengage from work outside of their contracted hours, without the obligation to respond to emails or calls. 📵

Now that this is in place, it is crucial for your managers and senior staff to be across this change.

Being able to understand and implement this legislation is crucial. Your senior staff have an essential role in:

• Communicating: Clearly outlining these new boundaries to your teams.

• Enforcing: Ensuring that all staff respect the right to disconnect.

• Leading: Setting the standard by adhering to the legislation yourself.

Stay informed and ensure your teams are fully aligned with these changes. Compliance starts with leadership. 🛑

It is essential that common sense prevails. There may be occasions when contact outside of regular working hours is necessary, and this should be aligned with the role’s responsibilities, salary, and level of seniority. It is also important to ensure that these expectations are clearly outlined in employment contracts and job descriptions.

Originally founded by students in response to global stories of teenagers taking their own lives due to bullying and harassment, Wear it Purple Day has become an international movement of love and support.
